Thanks for the modules... especially the Griffin stuff.. i have his stuff on e-sword and was going to transfer some of it... but now i don't have to do it all.. God Bless you!

ok... so i tried to open the modules (in accordance 10) and it does nothing... do you know what i can do?

Accordance Modules
You should be able to open them by 'right clicking' the module and opening it by choosing Accordance. If that does not work (I assume it doesn't) then try adding the ACC2 extension to the last part of the filename.

Accordance Modules
I think I might have it licked, but I am too tired to finish posting, so off to bed I go. I will finish this later (I think I need to upload them as ZIP files to retain the settings).

2012-10-09 22:20:49
Accordance Modules
Those of you having difficulty opening the files, be sure to attempt to "associate" the file with accordance by right clicking and opening with Accordance. If you still have trouble, contact me at and I'll see what I can do to help you out.

OK, One additional tip, try downloading quick change from here: Quick Change. Then open the quick change program. Drag the downloaded file from Pentecostal Blogger and drop it on quick change. In the type box type ACC7, and in creator type ACC0. Click save. Now open the document by double clicking on it. My apologies about all the trouble but for some reason when I upload the files, it strips all associations from the file turning it into a basic document type or "kind" in Mac OSX. This should fix it for you though.

2012-10-15 19:30:12
Accordance Modules
Now updated and put in zip file format so it retains the file associations properly.

Is there any way you could email me a PDF file of the notes on the Book of Acts by Kelsey Griffin? I have windows Vista and none of the emulators seem to work for me and one even loaded a virus on my computer! I have been asked to develop a course on Acts for an Apostolic Bible College in the UK and these notes would be very helpful to me. I need then as soon as possible and very much appreciate your help.

Hello, If you go to Bro. Griffin's Fat Bones website, http://www.fatbones.info/esword.htm#1, you will see e-sword files as well as Microsoft Word files of his notes. Hope this helps! Also, the e-sword program is a Windows based program which should run without an emulator.

Is this legal? I'd like to do this, but doesn't esword charge to set up on mac already? Dave

2011-11-18 23:04:08
Installing e-Sword on a Mac
Actually it is legal. Wine is an emulator that allows you to run windows programs under Mac. They created their own routines that do not rely on Windows code which is why they can offer it without violating any copyright or trademark laws from Microsoft. As far as paying for it from Codeweavers (The makers of CrossOver), all CrossOver is doing is wrapping Wine in a nice easy to install and use package, which they then charge you for. The e-Sword program is free. From the e-Sword website: "'Freely you received, freely give.' (Matthew 10:8) Jesus told us that since we've been blessed we should bless others. I am happy to provide a blessing to others in the form of free Bible study software!". The Wine package is free (open source). Crossover is not e-Sword specific. They have created a version of wine and have then made easy to install packages that they call CrossTies to install a wide number of software packages, not just e-Sword.

Be sure to see how to make the default AppleScript Icon into an e-Sword icon for easy visual reference by following my tutorial here: Making Script App Icons Look Different Then try restarting your system and see if it works.

If that fails, try installing winetricks by typing: sudo port install winetricks into your terminal. When it finishes, start winetricks at the command prompt type: winetricks vcrun6 This will install the vcrun6 package which is pretty much the same as the MFC42.dll

First, be sure that you copied the MFC42.DLL into: C:\windows\system32\ which should be in the: /Users/JJMAC/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32 folder. Be sure to show hidden files so you can see the directory to copy and paste the dll in.

Well, you should not have any issues. Just to be safe, make a time machine backup of your mac to an external harddrive so you can restore in the event something goofy happens. It shouldn't though. As far as Lion, I don't own that OS. I have a mid 2010 Mac with Snow Leopard. I've tested this on a clean install of Snow Leopard and everything looks great! If you try this on Lion, please post back and let me know what the results are.
Anyway, all tutorials here are provided for informational purposes only and I cannot be held responsible for any data loss or harm to your computer, however all you're doing is installing and configuring some pretty thoroughly tested software by a large community of developers so I really doubt anything will go wrong.
Blessings!
Ryan

Brother, I really appreciate what you've done here. However, I am in Lion 10.7.4, with xconde installed from the appstore, and macports from your link, and all I get when I enter "sudo port install wine" , is "Error: Port wine not found". Hope I'm doing something wrong, but I don't see what.

Make sure you configure Macport. Open Terminal and copy the following two lines one at a time. When you paste them into Terminal, hit return to execute them.
echo export PATH=/opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:\$PATH$'\n'export MANPATH=/opt/local/man:\$MANPATH | sudo tee -a /etc/profile if [ `sysctl -n hw.cpu64bit_capable` -eq 1 ] ; then echo "+universal" | sudo tee -a /opt/local/etc/macports/variants.conf; else echo "not 64bit capable"; fi After that, let me know if you get the following after the first command displayed in Terminal: export PATH=/opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:$PATH export MANPATH=/opt/local/man:$MANPATH And you should see this displayed after running the second command: +universal

2012-06-14 19:31:43

One other thing, make sure to update Macport by running the following command in Terminal: sudo port selfupdate

Installing e-Sword on a Mac
Hey Bro. Gustason, Just wanted you to know that with the current version of Xcode (4.3) on Lion you need to tell macports where the new location is, as Xcode no longer sits in /Developer, but instead sits in /Applications. This can be accomplished with $ sudo /usr/bin/xcode-select -switch /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer You can verify everything is correct by running this command: $ /usr/bin/xcodebuild -version Output: Xcode 4.3.3 Build version 4E3002 You would need to do this step immediately before: $ sudo port install wine Also, this assumes you accepted the default install location of Xcode into /Applications/Xcode.app, if not the xcode-select command above needs to be modified accordingly.
Commenter Jairo Namnun above will get an error (Error: No valid Xcode installation is properly selected.) after he gets his macports working correctly, and this will fix it.
God bless, and we look forward to seeing you in HI again.
Stephen

Make sure you change directory to the Downloads directory before executing wine setup1010.exe Also, I noticed your prompt says downloads jedediah. Please make sure that it is downloads and not Downloads (which is the default). upper and lower case matters in Mac OSX (Which is a Unix derivative [BSD]).

Hi Ryan! I'm geeking out over this! I can't wait to see your study Bible! Thanks for the links to the font set. I will be using this.
I mostly color-code. My favorite pencils are Prismacolor. I started coloring 30 years ago (wow... it's been that long...). I color according to doctrinal topics. I started with five colors:
Godhead - yellow
Salvation - red
Holiness - blue
Healing - purple
Commandments - green
Prophecy - orange
I've made many changes over the years, in both what the colors mean and how I mark, but the main core doctrines have stayed the same. I now use green for the Word of God, contending for the faith, study the Word, etc. I have expanded my color code to 20 colors, but I rarely use them all.
For notes, I like Pigma Micron markers. I like to write Hebrew or Greek definitions in the margin, and chain references.
Do you mark your text or use color-coding?
I would love to see your study Bible in print.

Bible Study
I used to color code, a long time ago, but have gotten out of the habit. Now I mostly use symbols to mean things, and am going to try to incorporate my various notes / notebooks I've scraped together over the years into this study bible. I'll post some progress (including screen shots) in future posts. The thing I like most is the loose-leaf idea which will enable changing of pages as I get new notes added! I might even try a little (minimal) color coding of the text beyond the basic words of Christ in Red.

I have looked in to self-publishing. I don't think they make Bibles. At least they didn't when I last checked about a year ago. I did find a company overseas that will print Bibles but they are expensive and have a limit of around 10,000 copies. If lulu or Amazon don't publish Bibles, then I think we're better off with our loose-leafs until PPH produces a good study Bible.
